You forgot to upload the comic
I can’t see it either…
I found it to be pretty subtle and sly…
Just seein’ if you were paying attention.
B. Giddy!! Send me your address thru our private sexy email…
Keef
Keith! Bob Nelson here from WMWM! Yes I’m still there and I remember you used to do 12-3 pm Sun
(I think I took over that slot after you left, with my “Juke Joint” blues show). Anyway I noted the
“My Days in College Radio” strip from yesterday’s Herald (it looks like your site posts them a week
later, so maybe it’ll show up on Jan 5). Yes, I noticed the “WM squared” bit on the microphone.
Paying tribute to your old station, eh?
Last July I went to San Francisco for the first time and insisted I drag my friend along to the Cartoon Art Museum at 655 Mission. Me: “Oh my God! They…have an entire room devoted to a former WMWM DJ!”
Yes, I don’t know if CAM still has it up, but there it was, Keef in all his glory!
Well, I haven’t picked up today’s Herald yet but maybe you’re doing a whole week of strips about college radio. We’re still here! Thanks for remembering!
Bob!!
Nice to hear from you!! Glad you got to see the CAM exhibit. It’ll be in the strip.
Don’t take the College radio strips too seriously, but we were kicked off for playing rap music (i think it was in 85 or 86 though..And John O’Neil got drunk at a party and gave me the whole “rap sucks and is just a fad” speech..
Ironically..It was nice to go back and visit and hear all the hip-hop being played on the station in the 90s.
WMWM rules!!
Oh, I didn’t plan to take ‘em too seriously (and I hope you don’t mind but I linked the WMWM site,
which I run, to yours! I’ve pointed out that another famous cartoonist, Mark “Off The Mark” Parisi,
graduated with me in ’84. He used to do Fri 6-9 pm I think. I remember big John O’Neill…I also
remember the station at one point called Steve Lochiatto (if you remember him) live on the air
in the middle of the night (he was a student in Barcelona Spain at the time). Heck, we used to
have toga parties and got in trouble…!
I’m not sure if we have much in the way of hip hop now–lots of alternative rock, some foreign,
plus jazz, sports talk, blues, Japanese pop, etc. We are streamcasting now (for the next week
we’re on automation though). And we still don’t have an on-air light! We’re online at
wmwmonline.com and the main site is wmwmsalem.com
It was fun to see your art at the CAM. I went to the receptionists and told them I knew
you from college. I haven’t picked up today’s Herald yet but I’ll check it out. Keep up the
good work!
